NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR OFFERS HIGH PRECISION MICROPOWER OP AMP FOR PORTABLE APPLICATION

Santa Clara, Calif., March 23, 1995 -- National Semiconductor today introduced the LMC6462 (two channel) and LMC6464 (four channel) micropower, rail-to-rail input and output op amps designed for portable applications. These micropower op amps deliver minimal power consumption (20microA per channel), precision DC offset (0.5mV, max.), high voltage gain (128dB) and rail-to-rail input and output . This unique combination of features make the LMC6462 and LMC6464 ideal for signal conditioning and sensor applications in systems designed for the mobile communications, laptop, portable digital assistant, portable instrumentation and handheld medical instrumentation markets.

Both micropower devices feature a common mode range that extends beyond the supply rails. In addition, the rail-to-rail output swing is guaranteed for loads as low as 25k ohms, maximizing the dynamic signal range. The rail-to-rail input/output feature maximizes both the signal-to-noise ratio and the dynamic signal range making these excellent devices to interface with A/D converters.

Micropower versions of National's LMC6482 and LMC6484 op amps, the LMC6462 and LMC6464 have guaranteed performance at both 3 and 5V, making them ideal for battery-powered systems. Requiring only a single power supply, both will operate from either of the new 3.3V regulated or unregulated power supplies. Additional features include 100fA ultra low input bias current and high CMRR (85dB) to maintain accuracy in battery powered systems.

The LMC6462 is available in either an 8-pin DIP or 8-pin SO version. LMC6464 is available in 14-pin DIP and 14-pin SO versions. All four packages are guaranteed across the industrial temperature range (- 40°C to +85°C). The 8 and 14-pin DIP versions are also guaranteed across the -55°C to +125°C military temperature range.

Pricing for 1000 piece quantities of industrial grade versions of the two channel LMC6462 in SOIC (AIM/BIM) and DIP (AIN/BIN) packages begins at $2.15 each for the A-Grade and $1.85 each for the B- Grade. Pricing for 1000 piece quantities of industrial grade versions of the four channel LMC6464 in SOIC (AIM/BIM) and DIP (AIN/BIN) packages starts at $2.85 for the A-Grade and $2.20 for the B- Grade.
